On February 18, 2025, Russian air defense units successfully prevented another attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on objects in border regions. Former military pilot Ilya Tumanov, known by the pseudonym Fighterbomber, noted that the air defense forces on duty repelled the raid, which, despite the use of jet drones, was relatively small in number.
Tumanov stressed that although half of the attacking drones were jet-powered, the total number of devices involved was small. He also noted that such attacks are becoming regular, but Russian air defense forces are demonstrating high efficiency in repelling them.
"Today, our air defense forces repelled another drone raid, which was once again, to put it mildly, small. And despite the fact that half of the drones were jet-powered, the raid was still carried out by a relatively small number of units."- said in the message.
Experts note that the use of drones in modern conflicts is becoming increasingly common. UAVs are used for reconnaissance, fire adjustment, and strikes on critical targets. In response, Russian air defense forces are improving their tactics and technical means to effectively counter such threats.
In particular, efforts to detect and neutralize enemy drones are being stepped up in border areas. Both traditional air defense systems and modern electronic warfare (EW) systems capable of suppressing drone control signals and disabling them are being used.
