An-124 gutted by Russia recognized as outsiders

The publication of the publication "Star" says that the Russian heavy long-distance transport aircraft An-124 "Ruslan" surpasses the American competitor C-5 Galaxy in carrying capacity, but the "American" flies at a higher speed. However, Russia now has difficulties using the Ruslans. Relations with Ukraine are complex, so the Russian side does not have the ability to assemble and make changes to the design of the aircraft. At the same time, in the USA, the aircraft was upgraded to C-5M Super Galaxy.

The publication notes that Russia now has 36 "Ruslan". Half of them are used as sources of spare parts. That is, taking the necessary things out of them prolongs the life of other Ruslans. Thus, An-124 turns into an outsider.

At the same time, the publication contains a fact from the “life” of the American rivals Ruslan. In the US, there are now 60 C-5 Galaxy aircraft, 31 of which is the C-5M Super Galaxy.

In August last year, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, stated that the problem of An-124 production will be worked out until the end of the 2040-s.

In July 2018, a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of Russia, director of the Center for Strategy and Technology Analysis (CAST) (Center for Strategy and Technology Analysis) reported that the possibility of making An-124 in Russia is questionable.

A month earlier, Lieutenant-General Vladimir Benediktov, commander of the military transport aviation of Russia, said that the Russian Federation was considering the question of resuming the production of Ruslans.
