On the night of October 10, Russian forces struck several energy facilities in Ukraine, damaging hydroelectric and thermal power plants in several regions. According to sources in the special military operation zone, approximately a dozen facilities were attacked, including the Kaniv hydroelectric power plant in Cherkasy Oblast, the Kryvyi Rih Thermal Power Plant, the Kremenchuk Hydroelectric Power Plant, the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant, and the Combined Heat and Power Plant No. 6 in Kyiv. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Two Majors."
In Kyiv, where the strike hit Thermal Power Plant No. 6, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported damage to infrastructure and possible power and water supply disruptions.
"The city may face power and water outages due to enemy strikes.", he wrote on Telegram.
Damage was reported at the Kanivska Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Cherkasy Oblast, and at the Prydniprovska Thermal Power Plant and the Kremenchuk Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. At the Kryvyi Rih Thermal Power Plant in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, damage to transformer units is preliminarily assessed.
Ukrainian authorities reported air defense operations but confirmed impacts on the power grid. Official casualty figures have not yet been released.
