The Russian military decided to withdraw their military from Zmeiny Island.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation decided to withdraw the Russian military contingent from the territory of the island. This is reported by the country's defense department. As it became known, the withdrawal of Russian units from Zmeiny Island is a gesture of goodwill and has nothing to do with the attempts of Ukrainian troops to strike at the islands.

“Today, as a step of goodwill, the Russian military completed tasks on Zmeiny Island and withdrew the garrison stationed there.”, - Igor Konashenkov, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, said during the next briefing.

It is not known what specific tasks performed by the Russian military on Zmeiny Island are, however, experts believe that thanks to Russia's actions, the degree of tension in this region can be significantly reduced. At the same time, it remains unknown whether Kyiv will take the island on its own or will not take such actions.

It is noteworthy that this morning at least five traces of fires were noticed on Serpent Island, however, no official statements on this subject have been made either from Moscow or from Kyiv so far.
