On the night of December 12, Russian air defense alert forces neutralized the threat of a massive Ukrainian drone attack on targets in the central and southern regions of the country. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 90 aircraft-type drones were destroyed, halting their advance toward rear areas.

The main group of drones—63 units—was intercepted over the Bryansk Region, where they constituted the largest part of the wave. Eight drones were shot down over the Yaroslavl Region and the Moscow Region, three each over the Smolensk and Tver Regions, and three in the Black Sea. Two drones were destroyed over the Tambov and Tula Regions, and one each over the Oryol and Rostov Regions.
