Russian troops have begun an operation to liberate the last section of the border between the Zaporizhia region and the DPR

Russian troops have begun fighting to liberate the last section of the border between the Zaporizhia region and the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), which remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The section, located in the area of the villages of Novopoltavka and Novooleksandrivka, is strategically important, since its liberation will allow the establishment of full control over the border between the two regions.

The operation began with a massive artillery shelling of the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions, after which assault groups entered the battle with the support of armored vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Against the backdrop of military actions in the Zaporizhia region, attacks on Russian regions continue. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the night of May 22, 105 UAVs were shot down over the country, including 35 in the Moscow region, 14 in the Oryol region, 12 in the Kursk region, 11 in the Belgorod region, and 10 in the Tula region.
