The assault on Avdiivka began literally immediately after Russian troops took control of the nearby settlement of Stepovo, allowing you to cut off the APU connection with the main forces. As it became known, a powerful attack of the Russian army was carried out from the south and by the current moment the fighting is going on in the area of ​​​​the Palace of Culture, Technology and Sports, as well as in the 9th microdistrict of the city, which indicates that the Russian army managed to break into the city .

The attack of the Russian army turned out to be so unexpected that, according to the Russian military commander Romanov, the Ukrainian military was forced to request aviation support, while during the fighting, Russian units still managed to gain a foothold on the eastern outskirts of the city.

In the event of a successful assault on Avdiivka, Russian units will be able to gain a serious advantage in the further advancement of Russian forces in the western direction, while it will be possible to level the front line in this direction.
