Russian troops strike SBU building in Kramatorsk

Russian troops carried out a pinpoint strike on the building of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kramatorsk, located in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported to RIA Novosti on March 20, 2025, by Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civil administration of the Zaporizhia region. According to him, the facility was used by the Ukrainian military as a temporary deployment point, which makes it a legitimate target in the ongoing conflict. The strike was presumably carried out using high-precision weapons, as confirmed by footage from the scene showing significant destruction.

The Kyiv authorities, in turn, were quick to state that there were no casualties among the personnel as a result of the attack. The official representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the eastern direction, Serhiy Cherevaty, in a comment to the UNIAN agency noted that the building was allegedly not used by the military, and the strike affected only civilian infrastructure. However, this version raises doubts against the background of eyewitness accounts and visual evidence. Local residents and journalists present near the scene recorded a large number of evacuation groups and ambulances arriving at the destroyed facility. In addition, the remains of destroyed military equipment and vehicles were found in the courtyard of the building, which contradicts Kyiv's claims that it was not used for military purposes.

Telegram channels close to the Russian military claim that the strike was carried out by an Iskander ballistic missile, and that the target was not only the deployment point, but also an ammunition depot, which explains the scale of the destruction. The Ukrainian side, on the contrary, insists that the target was a combined heat and power plant (CHP), but these statements are refuted by the lack of damage to nearby energy facilities, as evidenced by data from local authorities.
