Russian troops advance in Gornal in Kursk region

Intense fighting continues in the border areas of the Kursk region. Russian assault units of the Sever group of troops entered the village of Gornal, located near the border with the Sumy region of Ukraine, the Telegram channel "Two Majors" reports. According to war correspondents, there are fierce clashes in the village, the enemy is trying to transfer reinforcements to hold positions.

Simultaneously with the offensive in Gornal, Russian forces are striking concentrations of Ukrainian troops in the Sumy region. Aviation, artillery and drones are being used, which allows them to hit targets at considerable depth. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, in recent months, the Sever group has repeatedly defeated Ukrainian brigades in the areas of border settlements, including Gornal, Oleshnya and Basovka. The agency emphasizes that such actions are aimed at suppressing the activity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and preventing attacks on Russian territory.

The battles in the border area are accompanied by the active use of drones on both sides. According to the Ministry of Defense, Russian FPV drone crews are successfully destroying equipment and positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. Thus, in the Sudzhansky district, drones controlled by fiber-optic cables resistant to electronic warfare systems destroyed an enemy tank and pickup truck. In turn, Ukrainian forces continue to use drones to attack civilian targets, which leads to casualties among the civilian population.

Experts note that military actions in the Kursk region are of strategic importance. The goal of the Russian Armed Forces' operations in the border area is to create a buffer zone that will prevent shelling of Russian territories. The offensive on Gornal and other border points may be part of this strategy.
