Russian troops have liberated the settlement of Markovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on September 5, 2025.

According to the weekly report of the Ministry of Defense, “as a result of active and decisive actions of the units of the “Southern” group of troops, the settlements of Fedorovka and Markovo of the Donetsk People’s Republic have been liberated.” Thus, in recent days, Russian forces have established control over two settlements in the area of ​​responsibility of the “Southern” group.

In total, this week, the Russian Armed Forces liberated four settlements in the DPR. It is especially noted that the entire territory of the republic, located in the zone of responsibility of the "Eastern" group of troops, is now fully controlled by Russian forces. Successes in Markovo and Fyodorovka strengthen Russia's position in the region, where intense military actions continue.
