Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrei Kartapolov confirmed the advance of Russian troops in the Kupyansk area in a conversation with SHOT, emphasizing that success in this direction became possible due to intensive pressure from the Russian Armed Forces on all fronts. According to him, at the moment, Russian forces are developing the initiative in 93 different directions in the special military operation zone and the number of such directions continues to grow.

Kartapolov noted that the initiative on the front now belongs to the Russian army, which creates conditions for further expansion of the control zone and stabilization of positions in key areas. He also added that the actions of the Russian army in the Kupyansk area and other areas of the contact line are bringing tangible results, facilitating the advancement and consolidation of positions.

Earlier, Russian units managed to occupy strategically important strongholds of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kupyansk, temporarily depriving Ukrainian forces of communication with the command, which allowed Russian troops to establish control over a number of territories and continue clearing the adjacent areas, including Sin'kovka.
