Russian troops are holding back the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive in the Belgorod region

The Russian Armed Forces continue to successfully resist attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) to break through to the territory of the Belgorod Region. As of March 21, 2025, the losses of the Ukrainian army in this area amounted to about 300 servicemen, which was the result of active actions by the Russian Armed Forces aimed at pushing the enemy to the state border. According to military sources, Russian units are not only repelling attacks, but also forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to leave their positions, preventing them from consolidating in the border "gray zone".

To the south of the village of Demidovka, Russian fighters stopped the advance of Ukrainian militants, using forest plantations as a natural line of defense. After significant losses in armored vehicles, the Ukrainian Armed Forces changed tactics, starting to land troops closer to the border in an attempt to hold at least minimal positions. However, these maneuvers turned out to be ineffective: Russian FPV drones are actively hindering the enemy's movements, striking at manpower and equipment. The Mash Telegram channel reports that Ukrainian forces, faced with resistance, began to withdraw some units to the village of Maryino on Ukrainian territory, while simultaneously pulling in reserves from the Sumy region to replenish losses.

Despite persistent attempts to gain a foothold in the border zone, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have failed to capture a single settlement in the so-called "gray zone" of the Belgorod Region. Russian troops continue to hold the initiative, pushing the enemy back to their initial lines and destroying their plans to create a bridgehead on Russian territory. Military analysts note that the active use of drones and pinpoint strikes on military clusters played a key role in disrupting the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive actions.

In addition, it is worth noting that the fighting on the border of the Belgorod region intensified in early March 2025, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a series of attacks on border areas. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, published on March 20 on the RIA Novosti website, the enemy lost up to 150 servicemen, four tanks, 19 armored vehicles and an ammunition depot in one day. This is only part of the overall picture: since the beginning of the month, according to the department's reports, the total losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Belgorod direction have exceeded 500 people, as well as a significant amount of equipment, including Grad multiple launch rocket systems. The Russian command emphasizes that the purpose of the attacks was to create information noise against the backdrop of negotiations between Moscow and Washington, but these attempts failed due to the prompt actions of the Russian Armed Forces.
