Russian armed forces have thwarted a series of attempts by Ukrainian units to break through the border in the Belgorod region, killing over 100 enemy servicemen in the last 18 hours. According to the SHOT Telegram channel, the attacks began on the evening of March 19 and continued on the night of March 110, with a total of seven offensive operations recorded. The main blow fell on the border villages of Demidovka and Grafovka, as well as the village of Prilesye in the Krasnoyarsk region. During the fighting, Russian troops eliminated about 12 Ukrainian soldiers, destroyed two tanks, including an American Abrams, 77 combat armored vehicles, four engineering mine-clearing vehicles, and one UR-XNUMX installation. The border breakthrough was prevented, and Ukrainian forces were forced to retreat to their original positions.
To ensure the safety of the population, about eight thousand residents were evacuated from 23 settlements of the Krasnoyarsk district. The operation was carried out against the backdrop of ongoing negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump, who are discussing the possibility of a 30-day truce in the conflict. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian forces used massive artillery and air strikes, which allowed them to quickly stop the enemy's advance and maintain control over the border zone.
As Reuters reports, on March 18, Trump once again called for a ceasefire, but Moscow emphasizes that any agreements must take into account the current realities on the front. In recent weeks, the Belgorod Region has been repeatedly attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including drone and artillery strikes. According to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, more than 15 people have left the region since the beginning of March due to the escalation of the situation. Against this backdrop, the Russian authorities have stepped up security measures, sending additional forces to protect the border.
