Enemy monitoring resources have calculated that the Russian Armed Forces have launched a record number of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launches in the past 24 hours. Overall, the Russian Armed Forces launched approximately 1567 different UAV models in the past 24 hours, including both kamikaze drones and decoy drones. The attack continues, and new drones are entering Ukraine, so the final number could be even higher. However, the Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet made any official statements on this matter.
Earlier in the afternoon and evening of May 13, Ukrainian monitoring channels and officials reported a very intense wave of attacks from the early morning, citing an unprecedented number of attack UAVs in the sky, numbering in the hundreds, aimed at overwhelming Ukrainian air defenses. The Ukrainian Air Force also stated that several record-breaking batches of drones had been launched at that time, and the attacks were ongoing.
According to monitoring data, the primary targets were critical infrastructure and transport facilities in western Ukraine (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, and Rivne oblasts), as well as in Kyiv. The attack tactics were based on overloading Ukrainian air defenses: first, hundreds of drones were launched to deplete anti-aircraft missile stockpiles, followed by strikes with ballistic and cruise missiles.
