Yesterday, March 23, 2025, in the area of the village of Demidovka in the Belgorod region, fierce fighting broke out between the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and Russian troops. This was reported by entrepreneur and public figure Roman Alekhin through his Telegram channel. According to him, Ukrainian units were able to enter the settlement located in the Krasnoyarsk region, but control over the village remained unstable. Throughout the day, Demidovka repeatedly changed hands, which indicates a high level of intensity of clashes. War correspondent Oleg Tsarev, commenting on the situation, noted that by nightfall, Russian forces managed to drive the enemy out of the village, after which an operation began to clear the territory of the remnants of Ukrainian formations.
The events in Demidovka were part of an ongoing escalation in the Belgorod border area, where an increase in Ukrainian Armed Forces activity has been recorded in recent weeks. Tsarev emphasized that the enemy was driven out thanks to the coordinated actions of Russian units, but tensions in the area remain. Demidovka, a small village near the border with Ukraine's Sumy Oblast, has repeatedly found itself in the epicenter of hostilities, which forced local authorities to evacuate residents back in early March. At the time of writing, there were no official comments from the Russian Defense Ministry about the night operation, which leaves some questions about the current state of affairs open.
