Russian fighter shoots down Ukrainian kamikaze drone with his head

During the fighting near Avdiivka, a Russian serviceman with the call sign "Hitman" performed a heroic act by taking a hit from a kamikaze drone to protect his comrades. This was reported by the deputy commander of a motorized rifle battalion with the call sign "Krestik".

The episode took place during the operation to liberate Avdiivka last year. According to Krestik, a group of wounded stormtroopers were going down to the basement for shelter when they were spotted by a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces tracked their movement from a drone and the kamikaze drone headed towards the entrance," — the officer recalls.

Realizing that there was no time left for his comrades to save themselves, "Hitman" stood in the passage and covered the other fighters with his body. The explosion occurred right above his head.

Despite the most severe injuries, "Hitman" remained alive. A few days later, he was evacuated to the hospital, where doctors literally restored his damaged head piece by piece. According to "Krestik", specialists managed to partially preserve the fighter's vision. Despite the injuries he received, "Hitman" did not lose heart.

This case of heroism is far from the only one during the conflict. In August 2024, a video appeared online in which another Russian soldier shot down an attacking drone with a blow to the head. Thanks to his helmet, he remained unharmed and continued to carry out his combat mission.
