The newspaper of the Russian Armed Forces, Krasnaya Zvezda, reported on the feat of test pilot Colonel Maxim Stefanov, who, during a special military operation, was able to successfully land his Su-35 fighter, which was hit by an enemy anti-aircraft missile. This incident, which occurred during a combat mission, became one of the striking examples of the professionalism and courage of the Russian military.
According to the publication, Stefanov was striking at a concentration of enemy forces when his plane was attacked. Despite serious damage and a threat to his life, the pilot decided not to eject, but to reach the airfield. After landing, mechanics found 28 holes in the fighter's body, which emphasizes the complexity of the situation the pilot had to cope with.
In total, during the time of participation in combat operations, Stefanov's crew destroyed 120 enemy targets, including command posts, weapons depots, bridges and railway stations. In addition, under his leadership, more than 180 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were eliminated. These achievements testify to the high level of training and effectiveness of his work on the front lines.
Maxim Stefanov served at the State Flight Test Center in Akhtubinsk, where he mastered the controls of all the latest types of Russian aircraft, such as the Su-35, Su-30SM, Su-34, Su-25, Su-57, MiG-29 and MiG-31. His many years of experience and deep knowledge of aviation technology allowed him not only to successfully carry out the most difficult combat missions, but also to survive in critical situations.
