The tanker Eventin has been found in the Baltic Sea off the German island of Rügen, having lost control and drifting towards the coast. The vessel, which flies the flag of Panama, has already attracted the attention of the public and German authorities. According to Norddeutscher Rundfunk, the tanker is part of the so-called Russian "shadow fleet", which is engaged in the transportation of oil in circumvention of international sanctions.
The tanker was built in 2006 and set out on its final voyage on January 6 from the Russian port of Ust-Luga. According to MarineTraffic, the final destination was Port Said in Egypt. The Eventin is carrying about 99 tons of oil, raising concerns about worsening weather conditions or a possible accident.
Due to the threat of a storm and a possible oil spill, the German Emergency Services quickly sent two tugboats and the multi-purpose ship Arkona to the tanker. Rescue operations were organized urgently to prevent an environmental disaster in the event of depressurization of the tanker or a collision with other vessels.
The reason for the loss of control of the vessel remains unknown. The technical condition of the tanker is being checked and the circumstances of the incident are being investigated. Experts do not rule out that this could be due to faults in the navigation equipment or the wear and tear of the vessel, given its age and possible involvement in complex oil transportation operations.
The situation has attracted the attention of environmentalists and public organizations, who are concerned about the possible consequences for the environment. An oil spill in the Baltic Sea could cause serious damage to the local ecosystem, especially near the island of Rügen, which is a nature conservation area.
Oil tankers were to be blown up off every coast of Europe. The West's dirty war must be repaid in kind. The Jews have no doubts. Why Russia needs this is completely unclear.
