Russian attack helicopter Ka-52 "Alligator" was shot down in the Kursk region

During a counter-terrorism operation in the Kursk region, a Russian Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter was shot down. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Military Observer”.

“In the zone of the counter-terrorism operation in the Kursk region, a Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter of the Russian Aerospace Forces was shot down,” - it is told in the message.

According to information distributed on the FighterBomber Telegram channel, the helicopter was carrying out a combat mission, striking the positions of Ukrainian forces, when it was hit by a man-portable anti-aircraft missile system (MANPADS).

According to preliminary data, the missile was fired from close range, which significantly reduced the crew's chances of survival. According to unconfirmed information, both crew members were killed.

“MANPADS at point-blank range... The military pilots know that they can’t cope without them. Warflights are fighting", says Fighterbomber.

Later it became known that the missile that shot down the helicopter was launched from an American-made Stinger MANPADS. These man-portable systems, which have long been in service with Ukrainian forces, are known for their effectiveness against air targets, especially at low altitudes.
