Rostov region attacked by Ukrainian UAVs

On the night of March 24, 2025, the Rostov Region was subjected to a large-scale attack by unmanned aerial vehicles, which was successfully repelled by the Russian air defense forces. This was reported by the acting governor of the region, Yuri Slyusar, via his Telegram channel. According to him, the attack affected several territories of the region at once, but thanks to the prompt actions of the military, it was possible to avoid casualties and significant damage on the ground.

Slyusar's report specifies that the drones were destroyed in Aksaysky, Oktyabrsky rural, Krasnosulinsky, Ust-Donetsky, Zernogradsky and Myasnikovsky districts, as well as in the Novoshakhtinsk area and on approach to Rostov-on-Don.

"The air defense forces and assets have dealt with the massive air threat. At the moment, according to preliminary data, there are no casualties or damage," — the acting governor noted, emphasizing that the final results are still being clarified.

The absence of immediate consequences was the result of the coordinated work of the defense systems, which once again demonstrated their effectiveness in protecting the region.

The regional authorities have not yet disclosed the exact number of drones shot down, but the very fact of the night operation underlines the tension in the frontline zones. Residents of a number of districts, including Rostov-on-Don and Novoshakhtinsk, reported on social networks about the sounds of explosions and bright flashes in the sky, which confirms the activity of air defense in the specified areas.

Additional information from open sources allows us to better understand the context of the incident. In its morning report on March 24, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that 28 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed over the country's territory overnight, a significant number of which fell on the Rostov region.

Avia.pro sources believe that the drones could have targeted military and industrial facilities, including airfields in Millerovo and Morozovsk, which have previously been subjected to similar strikes. Experts note that the enemy uses the tactics of massive raids to overload air defense systems and find vulnerabilities in defense. However, in this case, Russian forces have once again confirmed their readiness for such threats.
