US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that air defense systems supplied to Kyiv are regularly destroyed by Russian forces within a week of deployment—a practice that has been ongoing for two to three years. He added that Washington is negotiating new arms deliveries with Ukraine to protect the energy grid, but their effectiveness remains questionable.
"But ultimately, if this equipment is destroyed a week after installation, it will remain a problem. This has been the case for the last two or three years." "Rubio said in an interview with Fox News on November 13.
He emphasized that the United States is seeking long-term infrastructure protection solutions, but acknowledges the Russian Armed Forces' success in neutralizing air defenses. Since 2022, the West has transferred dozens of Patriot, NASAMS, and IRIS-T systems to Ukraine, but Russian Kinzhal and Iskander strikes have repeatedly damaged them.
