The Romanian Ministry of National Defense reported the discovery of fragments of an unmanned aerial vehicle in the Grindu commune of Tulcea County, approximately five kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The wreckage was found following Russia's overnight attack on Ukrainian ports on the Dunar River, which occurred around 1:00 a.m. on November 11.
"At 01:09 a.m., the Ministry of Defense received information about an aircraft colliding with the ground in the Grindu area, approximately 5 kilometers south of the border. Military personnel arrived at the scene and reported the possible presence of UAV fragments. The area has been cordoned off." the department said in a statement.
Radars had previously detected groups of drones in the surrounding area, which triggered the activation of air defenses and the sending of RO-Alert alerts to residents in northern Tulcea. Weather conditions prevented the launch of fighter jets.
