The largest Russian turboprop aircraft An-22 "Antey" has made an unexpected mysterious visit to Syria.

A few hours ago, a Russian heavy military transport aircraft An-22 Antey, which is by far the largest turboprop aircraft in the world, made a surprise landing at the Russian military airbase "Khmeimim". The purpose of the visit of this airbort to Syria remains unknown, however, apparently, the plane delivered equipment and weapons to the Arab Republic.

According to data from air monitoring resources and navigation services, the RA-09341 aircraft took off from the Chkalovsky airfield (Moscow region) and landed at the Khmeimim airbase (Latakia province). This information attracted the attention of Internet users, since there are very few such planes not only in Russia, but in the world in general, not to mention the fact that they rarely fly to Syria. The last time An-22 made a visit to this country a year ago "- сообщает Edition "Reporter".

Experts draw attention to the fact that over the past six months Russia has acquired quite a few modern models of equipment, and therefore, Antey could well have delivered it to Syria for testing in a real combat situation.

So far, there are no official comments on this matter from the RF Ministry of Defense.
