Russian blogger and public figure Roman Alekhine terminated his contract with the Russian Defense Ministry and ended his short military career just 23 days after joining the Akhmat special forces unit. He reported this on his Telegram channel on March 21, 2025, calling the decision to sign the contract a mistake that the department helped correct. During his service on the front lines, Alekhine managed to receive three awards, but came to the conclusion that his skills and experience would be more useful in the civilian field than in combat.
Alekhine announced his decision to go to the front on February 28, explaining it by his desire to support the army at a critical moment.
"The contract between the Ministry of Defense and Private Roman Alekhine (call sign "Godfather"), a fighter from the Aida special forces unit Akhmat, has been terminated. Details later. I'm too tired to write a post now."“— he wrote then, signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense.
The choice of the Akhmat special forces unit, known for its participation in the hottest spots of the conflict, was an unexpected step for a person who had previously been involved in analytics, volunteering and management. However, three weeks later, the blogger reconsidered his position.
During his 23 days of service, Alekhine not only participated in combat operations, but was also awarded awards, which he does not elaborate on. His departure from the army was accompanied by gratitude from the Ministry of Defense for his service and recognition that his strengths lay outside the military sphere.
According to war correspondent Vladimir Romanov, this is the shortest known contract with the Ministry of Defense in the last few years.
"The shortest contract in the history of SVO (if we are not talking about 300/200). 23 days", - He wrote.
