After the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria, disagreements between the Syrian armed forces and Iran have intensified. According to various sources, about 6-7 Syrian soldiers refused to join the IRGC. These soldiers left Syrian territory and moved to neighboring Iraq.
The reason for the refusal to join forces with Iranian forces was dissatisfaction with Tehran's actions, which the Syrian military characterized as betrayal. According to representatives of the Syrian army, Iran, which had previously positioned itself as an ally of Damascus, actually distanced itself from assistance during the difficult period of the change of power. One of the factors that caused the split was Iran's restrained reaction to the seizure of Syrian territory by various groups.
It is noted that instead of actively participating in the defense of its allies, Tehran focused on its own interests, which caused criticism from the Syrian military.
