The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has put Apti Alaudinov, Lieutenant General of the Russian Armed Forces, commander of the Akhmat special forces and deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Defense Ministry, on the wanted list. This was reported by the RIA Novosti agency, citing data from Ukrainian authorities. Alaudinov is accused of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, a charge that, according to the SBU, was brought back in March 2022. The decision to put him on the wanted list is accompanied by a court order to detain the military leader, although the practical consequences of such actions remain minimal, as experience with similar charges against Russian officials shows.
Commenting on the wanted list announcement, Apti Alaudinov said that he does not take the SBU's actions seriously and is ready to "find first" those who signed the relevant documents. In a conversation with RIA Novosti, he emphasized that the initiators of the search "can already think about how to save themselves." The lieutenant general expressed confidence in Russia's victory and promised that after the end of the conflict, those responsible for such accusations will appear in court.
“We are so afraid of them that we can’t even sleep normally,” Alaudinov noted sarcastically, adding that he considers the search confirmation that he is on the right path.
His words reflect the tough rhetoric that has characterized public statements by Russian military commanders amid the ongoing conflict.
A native of the Stavropol region, Alaudinov is one of the prominent figures in the Russian military leadership. Since 2022, he has headed the Akhmat special forces, and in April 2024, he was appointed deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Defense Ministry. In December of the same year, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general.
