Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that the country is starting to prepare bomb shelters in case of a nuclear threat. This decision was made against the backdrop of growing tensions in the world related to the conflict in Ukraine and the deterioration of the international situation. The Serbian leader expressed concern, noting that global events are developing in an extremely unfavorable direction.
"My predictions are that everything that is happening will get increasingly out of control. This will only lead to new conflicts, even bigger problems and to what we wanted to avoid at all costs - a conflict of an even wider and larger scale than today," — Vucic said.
The preparation of bomb shelters in Serbia is a preventive measure dictated by the fear of a possible escalation of the conflict, which could spill over beyond Ukraine. The president stressed that the country seeks to maintain neutrality, but must be prepared for any scenario in the context of growing international tension.
Experts note that Serbia's decision reflects a general trend in Europe, where countries are tightening security measures amid instability. Vucic also stressed that the situation in Ukraine demonstrates how quickly the consequences of regional conflicts can spread, threatening global peace.
