Serbian troops put on alert due to new escalation on the border with Kosovo

The Serbian army was put on full alert due to increased tensions in Kosovo. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed this information, noting that the situation in the region is heating up, and the country's authorities are forced to take appropriate measures.

The increased tension is connected with the situation around the so-called "Auto Park North", located in the northern part of the city of Kosovska Mitrovica. The authorities of the unrecognized Kosovo have put forward a demand to close this vehicle fleet, which serves as an important transport hub for the Serbian populated region. However, the Serbian authorities insist that this issue should be resolved through dialogue, and not through ultimatums.

President Vučić expressed his concern over the sharp deterioration in the situation in Kosovo.

"We have always strived for peace and stability in the region, but we will also protect our citizens and our country", - he said.

In turn, NATO representatives declared their readiness for dialogue and called on all parties to comply with the peace agreements. They stressed that military action is not a solution to the conflict and were concerned about the possible impact of this situation on the overall security in the region. However, why NATO did not condemn Kosovo for the escalation of tension is silent.

It is worth noting that in recent years in Kosovo there have been regular clashes between the Albanian majority and the Serb minority, which does not recognize the independence of the region. Tension in Kosovo remains one of the main sources of instability in the Balkans.
