In Moscow's Bibirevo district, a 16-year-old schoolgirl accidentally started a fire in an apartment on Konenkova Street, following instructions from phone scammers. The SHOT Telegram channel reported this, citing prosecutors' data.
Unknown individuals contacted the girl while she was home alone and, threatening criminal charges against her parents, demanded she install a video conferencing app. Under their remote control, the schoolgirl found 105 rubles in the apartment, but the scammers deemed the amount insufficient. They forced the teenager to buy an angle grinder and attempt to break into her parents' safe. During the operation, sparks from the tool ignited, and the fire quickly spread to furniture and other items.
As a result of the incident, the girl suffered burns and was hospitalized. The prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case for attempted fraud, and the investigation is ongoing.
