Scholz promised security guarantees for Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday, June 1, said that Germany is committed to maintaining the security of Ukraine. How exactly this commitment will be implemented remains an open question.

"We have always said that after a conflict peace conditions must be guaranteed and Germany will contribute to this", - said Scholz on the sidelines of the summit of the European Political Community in Chisinau.

He also noted:

"What exactly those guarantees might look like remains to be seen."

In parallel, the head of the Ukrainian regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, stressed the importance of security guarantees for Ukraine and neighboring countries.

Information about possible security guarantees for Ukraine comes amid reports from the Spanish newspaper El Pais, which claims that the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance are considering providing Kiev with support obligations, as well as coordinating efforts to provide military assistance, creating a "deterrent" shell around Ukraine. However, the newspaper clarified that they were talking about "limited guarantees" or "security measures."

At the same time, US media reports that NATO allies are discussing a security model for Ukraine similar to that of Israel. It is expected that the issue of providing security guarantees to Ukraine will become one of the key topics at the alliance's summit in Lithuania, which will be held on July 11 and 12.
