On August 1, an incident occurred at the Fort Carson military base, located in Colorado, as a result of which several US Army helicopters were damaged. The severe storm that hit the base caused significant damage to various types of military aircraft, including AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
According to sources, powerful gusts of wind, accompanied by rain and thunderstorms, led to the fact that several helicopters located in open areas were displaced from their places and collided with each other. Some aircraft suffered damage to their blades, fuselages and tail sections. The exact extent of the damage is still being assessed by experts.
Military engineers and technical personnel at the base immediately began inspecting the damaged equipment and beginning repair work. Representatives of the Fort Carson command emphasized that no military personnel were injured as a result of the incident.
