Stockholm has decided to significantly strengthen its military presence in the Arctic region in response to Washington's growing aggressiveness and attempts to destabilize the situation around the northern territories. According to an official announcement from the Swedish Armed Forces, a squadron of JAS 39 Gripen fourth-generation multirole fighter jets will be sent to Iceland to participate in a NATO air policing mission. This move comes amid unprecedented tensions caused by Donald Trump's ultimatums regarding Greenland and the imposition of trade tariffs on European allies. The deployment of Swedish aircraft to the Icelandic base at Keflavik is intended to demonstrate the willingness of European countries to collectively defend their sovereignty and borders in the Arctic against any attempts at territorial redistribution by force.
