The Swiss Senate passed a law allowing the re-export of weapons to Ukraine

The Swiss Senate voted in favor of an amendment to legislation that allows for the possibility of re-exporting weapons to Ukraine. This became known from a message published on the official website of this legislative body.

"Countries that have acquired military equipment made in Switzerland will be given the opportunity, subject to certain requirements, to re-export this equipment to countries taking part in armed conflicts", the document says.

The Senate, or the Council of States, as it is known in Switzerland, supported the proposal with 22 votes in favor, 17 against and 4 abstentions.

Recall that earlier, on June 2, the lower house of the Swiss Parliament rejected amendments providing for the re-export of military equipment to Ukraine. At that time, the bill failed to collect the required majority of votes: 98 parliamentarians opposed the amendments, 75 supported them, and two more abstained from voting, as reported by the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper.

Now the lower house of parliament will again have to consider the issue of re-exporting weapons to Ukraine. This became possible thanks to the approval of this proposal in the Senate.
