Syrian army launches missile strikes on HTS militant positions

In the south of Idlib province, the Syrian army launched missile strikes on armed groups. According to the newspaper Al-Watan, the settlements of Ar-Ruwayha, Khan es-Sabil and Maardabsa were attacked. At the same time, Syrian aviation attacked militant positions in the mountainous area of Jabal ez-Zawiya, as well as in the city of Mareya, located north of Aleppo.

The military actions of the Syrian army are aimed at containing the activity of terrorist groups, which in recent days have stepped up attacks on government positions. The operation in Idlib was a response to the militants' attempts to consolidate their positions in strategically important areas and expand their zone of control.

According to local sources, the strikes were accompanied by active artillery support, which allowed the destruction of fortified enemy positions. In particular, several militant infrastructure facilities were destroyed in Jabal al-Zawiya, including ammunition depots and command posts.

The situation in the region remains tense. Idlib is the last major territory in Syria where significant forces of opposition groups are concentrated, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, recognized as terrorist), which is banned in Russia. The standoff for control of the province continues, despite previously reached agreements between Russia, Turkey and Iran.
