The Syrian Arab Army successfully repelled the attack of militants near the city of Hama, restoring full control over this strategic territory. This was reported by sources close to the Syrian Defense Ministry. The militants' advance was stopped thanks to the coordinated actions of the Syrian troops, who prevented the attempt to seize important objects.
However, despite the failure at Hama, the rebels have changed tactics and have begun to advance into less protected areas. Their main focus has shifted to desert zones, which have little strategic value. At the moment, the groups are trying to gain a foothold in unpopulated areas in order to claim territorial gains.
According to experts, if these zones are completely captured, the militants will be able to declare control over a territory of about 10 thousand square kilometers. However, such areas do not provide significant economic or military resources.
"These attempts are more aimed at creating the illusion of victory than at achieving real strategic goals," — notes a source familiar with the situation.
Meanwhile, the Syrian military continues to strengthen its positions to prevent repeated attacks on key cities in the central part of the country. In particular, garrisons in the provinces of Hama and Homs have been strengthened, which remain priority areas for defense. The Syrian Defense Ministry also reports plans to conduct operations in desert regions to deprive the rebels of the opportunity to gain a foothold in new territories.
