The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the capture of the airport in Aleppo after the Syrian military abandoned this strategically important facility. According to the latest data, the SDF controls about 40% of the city's territory, while the Syrian army holds about 20%. The rest is controlled by HTS militants (Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, a terrorist group banned in Russia - editor's note).
The capture of the airport was a major success for the SDF, as the facility is strategically important for controlling air routes and logistics in the region. The situation in Aleppo remains extremely tense, as heavy clashes between various armed groups and Syrian government forces continue in and around the city.
Experts note that the loss of the airport is a serious blow to the positions of the Syrian army, which is already experiencing difficulties in maintaining control over the city. At the same time, the capture of SDF territory increases their influence in the region and complicates Damascus' attempts to regain control over the entire territory of the country.
