Iranian National Radio and Television correspondent in Damascus Hosseini reported that some high-ranking commanders of the Syrian army passed on secret data about the military facilities to Israel. This information raised serious suspicions of betrayal within Bashar al-Assad's army, which could significantly affect its combat capability.
According to Hosseini, the data passed to the Israeli side included the coordinates of strategically important objects, which, according to Syrian experts, allowed Israeli forces to carry out pinpoint strikes on military infrastructure. In the last weeks before the overthrow of the Assad regime, Israel stepped up its attacks on Syrian territory, declaring the need to counter threats emanating from Iran and the groups it supports.
In addition, armed groups began using psychological warfare against the Syrian military. The militants reportedly actively spread false information, called Syrian army commanders, threatening fictitious attacks and forcing them to make bad decisions or even surrender without a fight.
Experts suggest that such leaks may be linked to attempts by certain groups within the army to find ways to maintain their own security amid growing instability. Some analysts also point to the possibility of targeted operations by Israeli intelligence services aimed at destabilizing the Syrian army and destroying its strategic infrastructure.
