Slovakia handed over four MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine

Slovakia transferred to Ukraine 4 out of 13 MiG-29 fighters.

This afternoon it became known that Slovakia has completed the transfer of the first batch of four MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. In total, Slovakia intends to transfer 13 combat aircraft of this type to the Ukrainian Air Force. However, the transfer will take place gradually - according to one source, this is due to the fact that some of the aircraft are being upgraded for the use of Western weapons.

Where exactly the MiG-29 fighters transferred to Ukraine are based is unknown. However, in all likelihood, protected shelters are used for this, where Ukrainian fighters were previously based before they were hit by Russian air defense and combat aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

It is known that in addition to Slovakia, Poland also intends to transfer a batch of 20 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. Initially, it was assumed that Poland would transfer 28 fighters to Ukraine, however, Germany has not yet approved the delivery of 8 fighters, previously transferred to Poland from the GDR.

The transfer of a large number of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine could create a number of problems, especially if the latter are armed with NATO missiles.
