Known for his dramatic escape to Ukraine, pilot Maxim Kuzminov, whose career as a traitor ended in Spain, found himself at the center of an international scandal. According to information published by The New York Times, Kuzminov led a luxurious lifestyle, often visited bars and drove an expensive Mercedes S-Class car. Not trying to hide his location, he even invited his ex-girlfriend from Russia to visit.

The tragic end of his story occurred when unknown killers, having previously stolen an SUV in another city and keeping an eye on Kuzminov, set up an ambush near his house. As a result, the pilot was shot with six bullets from a Makarov pistol, which, according to Spanish investigators, is a rarity for crimes in Spain. After the shelling, the killers repeatedly ran over him in a car, which caused Kuzminov’s death.

The criminals' car was found only a few days later and was found completely burnt out, which made it much more difficult to determine its make and identity.
