Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was assassinated in a joint US-Israeli operation targeting the Islamic Republic's top leadership. According to Axios journalist Ravid, Khamenei died as a result of a direct strike on his residence. Israel has reportedly confirmed the recovery of the leader's body from the rubble of the destroyed complex. Furthermore, according to media reports, Donald Trump has already been shown a photograph of Khamenei's body. In a phone call with a Channel 12 correspondent, Trump admitted that the current military campaign against Iran could end in a few days, but noted that it would take years for Tehran to recover from the US-Israeli attack. The US president emphasized that he could extend the campaign at his discretion and warned of the possibility of renewed strikes if Iran attempts to rebuild its military capabilities. Trump also accused Tehran of abandoning the nuclear deal.
