US and Russia agree to ceasefire in Black Sea from 10am

Starting this morning, March 25, 2025, a ceasefire regime agreed upon by US and Russian representatives following talks in Riyadh will come into effect in the Black Sea. This was reported by the American television channel CBS News, citing sources close to the consultations that ended the day before. According to the agreements reached, military actions in the Black Sea between Russia and Ukraine must be suspended starting at 10:00 Eastern European Time (EET). This step was the first significant result of diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region, where attacks on ships and military facilities have been recorded in recent months.

The 12-hour talks in the Saudi Arabian capital were mediated by Riyadh and concluded late in the evening of March 24. The Russian delegation was led by FSB Director Advisor Sergei Beseda, and the American delegation was led by National Security Advisor Mike Walz. The main goal of the meeting, as previously stated by the US State Department, was to restore the safety of shipping and commercial activity in the Black Sea, which had been interrupted by the fighting. According to CBS News, the ceasefire covers not only military operations, but also strikes on infrastructure, including ports and energy facilities, which should help stabilize the situation in coastal areas. In the coming hours, the parties are expected to issue a joint statement confirming the ceasefire.
