Washington has decided to provide Ukraine with long-range air defense.

The United States will provide Ukraine with short, medium and long range air defense systems. The number of complexes transferred to Ukraine is not officially disclosed. Obviously, we are talking about one battery of each type of weapon. This indicates the possible delivery of 12 anti-aircraft missile systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Of greatest concern is the provision by the American side of the long-range air defense system - today with almost complete certainty it can be assumed that we are talking about the Patriot air defense system, which has a range of hitting targets up to 160 kilometers.

The Biden administration will buy Ukraine NASAMS, an advanced medium-to-long-range surface-to-air missile defense system that will allow Ukraine to defend its forces from long distances, according to an official familiar with the decision. Biden's decision to authorize the transfer of the new system came just a day after Russia launched missile strikes on the Artyom plant in Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, as G-7 leaders began their summit in Germany. Jake Sullivan, Biden's national security adviser, told reporters at the GXNUMX summit that the United States intends to "finish a package that includes advanced medium-to-long-range air defense capabilities for Ukrainians," but did not provide more details about any specific system., according to the American edition of The New York Times.

It is known that the NASAMS system transferred to Ukraine has a range of hitting targets up to 50-60 kilometers. At the same time, along with mobile launchers, AN / TPQ-64 radars will also be transferred to Ukraine.
