The United States Space Force is preparing to deploy two new electronic warfare systems—Meadowlands and Remote Sensing Propagation Terminals. They will expand the capabilities of the existing Counter Communications System and allow for the temporary disabling of enemy orbital satellites anywhere on the planet.
"These systems will be able to operate worldwide and temporarily disable enemy reconnaissance satellites during conflicts," — Bloomberg writes, citing Pentagon documents.
Meadowlands is a mobile ground node capable of jamming targets thousands of kilometers away. Remote Sensing Terminals will provide signal analysis and precise targeting. Both projects are funded under the 2026 budget and will be tested at bases in Colorado and California.
The Pentagon emphasizes the defensive nature of the systems, but experts see them as a tool for escalation in space. Russia and China have previously accused Washington of militarizing orbit.
