The United States has begun a large-scale deployment of forces and assets, comparable in scope to preparations for a major military conflict. According to monitoring resources, a massive redeployment of dozens of KC-135 and KC-46 tanker aircraft to the northeast coast of the United States was recorded overnight, clearly indicating preparations for long transatlantic flights of heavy aircraft. At the same time, Washington has significantly increased the use of its military transport fleet. Since mid-January, at least 163 flights of C-17 and C-5 heavy transport aircraft have been recorded, transiting from the United States and Japan via European airfields to key hubs in the Middle East.
The bulk of American military aid and personnel is concentrated in Jordan, where 98 aircraft have been sent, as well as in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. This unprecedented level of American air activity and the creation of an "air bridge" across the Atlantic and Europe demonstrate the Pentagon's intention to rapidly increase its troop presence in the Persian Gulf. The formation of a powerful logistical force amid aggressive rhetoric against Iran confirms that the US is seriously considering direct military intervention. The massing of hundreds of heavy aircraft and the deployment of aerial refueling systems are turning the region into a staging ground for a potential protracted campaign, threatening the fragile stability of all of Eurasia.
