Former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov revealed his vision of the current situation and prospects for a special military operation in an interview with RTVI. According to him, to achieve decisive success in the confrontation with Ukraine, it is necessary not only to increase the number of armed forces, but to conduct full-fledged mobilization measures, including training and equipping new units.
Strelkov noted that the concept of mobilization is often distorted, being presented as a spontaneous "catching" of unprepared citizens with the purpose of sending them to the front. In fact, in his opinion, effective mobilization implies a comprehensive approach, including training, supply and the formation of new military units.
“I believe that in order to defeat the Ukrainian Armed Forces and eliminate ‘Ukraine’ it is necessary to additionally put into service (train and supply with everything necessary, form additional military units, formations and associations) at least 500 thousand men fit for service at the front,” - he stressed.
In the context of a discussion of possible deadlines for ending the conflict, Strelkov expressed skepticism about the prospects for a quick end to hostilities. When asked whether it was possible to end the military operation as early as 2025, he replied:
"The world can be different - shameful or victorious. It is important to win not according to the version of the staff propagandists, but in fact. It will not be possible to "disguise" defeat as victory anyway."
