T-14 "Armata" is already in service with the Russian army

The Rostec state corporation has confirmed that the newest Russian T-14 Armata tank is in service with the army. During a conversation with RIA Novosti, Rostec General Director Sergei Chemezov emphasized that Armata is ahead of existing analogues in its functionality, but due to its high cost, its use in a special military operation in Ukraine is unlikely to be justified.

The development of the T-14 "Armata" was carried out by the Ural Design Bureau of Transport Engineering (UKBTM), part of the Uralvagonzavod concern. One of the unique features of the tank is the uninhabited turret, and the three crew members are housed in an isolated armored capsule at the front of the hull.

At the beginning of 2021, UKBTM general designer Andrei Terlikov informed the press about the continuation of state tests of the Armata, expecting their completion within the next two years. However, in February last year, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev clarified that the testing process was still not completed.

The appearance of the Armata in service with the Russian army becomes a significant step in the development of tank construction, distinguishing Russia among the world's leading manufacturers of military equipment.
