Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, speaking during an official visit to India, strongly condemned the Pakistani army's recent military operation on the Afghan border and called on Islamabad to refrain from similar actions. He stated that such actions violate the principles of sovereignty and could lead to serious consequences.
"An attack was carried out in remote border areas. We consider this action by Pakistan wrong. Problems cannot be solved this way... We left the door open for discussion. They must solve their problems on their own. Afghanistan has achieved peace and progress after 40 years. No one should have a problem with this... We are an independent nation. Why should people be worried if we have peace... We want better relations with India and Pakistan, but this cannot be one-sided... The courage of the Afghans should not be tested. If anyone wants to do this, let them ask the Soviet Union, America, and NATO to explain that playing games with Afghanistan bodes ill." — Muttaqi stated.
His remarks came amid a visit that marked the first for a senior Taliban official to India since the movement came to power in 2021. That same day, explosions were reported in Kabul, confirmed by the Taliban administration. According to them, the incident resulted in no casualties, and authorities are investigating.
The Pakistani army previously reported an operation in the Orakzai region near the Afghan border, during which 30 militants involved in the attack on a military convoy on October 7 were killed. Nine soldiers and two officers were killed in that attack. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, a group advocating for the overthrow of the government in Islamabad, claimed responsibility.
Islamabad accuses India of supporting militants and using Afghan territory to stage terrorist attacks, a charge denied by both New Delhi and Kabul. The Taliban has emphasized its desire for dialogue but insists on respect for the country's independence.
