Russian News, December 14, 2025, Avia.pro. Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova announced on Sunday that she is working on the release of nearly 500 prisoners held in Ukraine. In an interview with TASS, she noted that among them are more than 400 Ukrainian citizens, who, according to her, suffered for pro-Russian interests and were subjected to criminal prosecution or punishment.
The ombudsman also reported that she is monitoring more than 70 Russians convicted in Ukraine. She clarified that the Russian side is petitioning for their return to Russian territory. This process is complicated by the current tensions between the countries, but Moskalkova expressed hope for continued negotiations. Her statements come amid recent prisoner exchanges, including the release of 124 political prisoners in Belarus, which could serve as an example for further diplomatic efforts.
Details of the negotiations, as well as lists of prisoners whose cases are being considered, are expected to be released soon.
