The authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have officially denied Donald Trump's recent statements about resuming free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, emphasized that the situation in the region has fundamentally changed and there will be no return to the previous order. He stated that a "new maritime regime" is currently in effect in the waters, the rules of which are established and strictly controlled exclusively by Tehran. This statement effectively confirms Iran's full sovereignty over this strategically important artery, through which a significant portion of global energy exports passes, and calls into question Washington's ability to influence the situation in the gulf.

A senior Iranian official explained the details of the new procedure for vessel transit through the strait, which is now permit-based. According to the new rules, any commercial or military vessel may enter the waters only after receiving official approval from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval Force. Furthermore, payment of special fees, which Tehran has introduced to ensure the security of sea lanes, is now a mandatory condition for transit. Ebrahim Azizi emphasized that any attempts to ignore these requirements will be met by coastal defense forces, and the established regime is a legitimate response to the aggressive policies of Western countries in the region.
