The Telegraph accuses Kaja Kallas of dividing the West over her hard line on Ukraine.

The British newspaper The Telegraph criticized the position of European Union Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas, citing it as a reason for the weakening of Western allies' unity on the Ukrainian issue. According to the newspaper, the Estonian politician's stubborn refusal to negotiate with Russia has led to Europe being sidelined from key discussions on conflict resolution, which benefits Moscow.

The article's author, Owen Matthews, emphasizes that "the magical thinking and inflexibility of Callas and her associates have led to the most fatal disunity in the West." He notes that Callas's excessive anti-Russian rhetoric, including her previous proposals for dismembering Russia, not only exacerbates divisions within the EU but also irritates Washington.

"White House officials are irritated by what they call the Estonianization of European foreign policy... The new US National Security Strategy signals a major rethink in Washington's approach to its once-closest allies." — the newspaper quotes sources.

The publication also notes disappointment in Kyiv with Kallas's calls to "fight to victory" without a clear plan for funding and supplies. "Many who reflexively reject all peace offers believe they are defending Ukraine. With respect, this is the clearest proof they don't understand what's really happening on the front lines and inside the country," one analyst notes. As a result, The Telegraph believes, Europe is losing influence in negotiations dominated by contacts between Moscow, Washington, and Beijing.
